Ok, if we can't get this one changed to being moderated, why can't we create
a moderated NG from scratch?
We would definitely be active in a good NG.

You can post your question to dfw.usenet.config and the news managers,
if they are still active will answer your question, in time. I was
active in the group many years ago.
Don't take the name the wrong way, he is a nice guy. He is going to
tell you no, but you will at least get it from the guy who is elected
by the dfw news managers.
For further discussion on this matter, go to dfw.usenet.config. It
will not be read by the people in charge, in this group.

I am taking this reply over to dfw.usenet.config. I don't try to get
into these things anymore. Please subscribe to the group, and then
follow the replies there. Based on how things were when I was
involved many years ago, I don't expect you to get it done, but who
knows? Maybe something has changed.

Is the request to create a new moderated group in the dfw
hierarchy?

Is there a volunteer or group of volunteers to moderate?

A proposed charter?

I was going to stay out of this. If there is no one available in the
group more qualified, I would guide them through the chartering
process, BUT....Hint hint.....You ARE much more qualified. ( :

But no, I won't moderate.

Lets wait and see if the person who made the request drops by over
here.

I won't either.

Whoever moderates should probably write the charter. Because,
basically, moderated groups are whatever the moderator wants
them to be.

Could it be done on an auto moderate basis using approval in the init,
or do the spammers go right through that? We could have a faq which
clearly showed how to set that up for posting.

I think the spammers would soon penetrate that.

USENET died because of FAQ Nazis. Now, no ISP cares about it. The
only ones who love it are the same brittle bunch who wish BBS still
let them be little tin gods.
