Once again, a verbatim quote from the Charter:
Topics inappropriate for in dfw.forsale
The following types of net abuse are severe wastes of
bandwidth. As many smaller sites are connected via slow dial-up
links, and may by paying per-minute charges, this charter
allows for the on-sight cancellation of any of the following
abuses:
9. Commercial ads, posts, or advertisements, including URL
links to such.
Those the IMPOSED rules for using this NG. This set of rules existed
PRIOR to anyone here "joining" this group. IF you don't agree, the
choice is clear: Don't use this group. This is an agreement, that
usually works well, and provides the only leverage against spammers.
If this group required everyone to sign a "Terms of Use" agreement PRIOR
to ever posting, we wouldn't have these issues. The Charter is posted,
and the terms of use are clearly stated. That you POST to this group at
all means you agree to abide by the terms of the charter.
The guys who PAY to maintain the DFW.? USENET configuration, and allow
us to tag along, would kill the entire hierarchy rather than allow
commercial posting. There is a requirement in their funding that
absolutely prohibits commercial use, at a very base / root level.
